Un sac de billes, di Joseph Joffo 
La prima edizione di questo romanzo vero, che ha viaggiato nel mondo attraverso numerose traduzioni, è del 1973. Anche qui, come ne "Il giorno che cambiò la mia vita" che abbiamo segnalato qualche giorno fa, c'è la storia di un bimbo. E' Joseph, figlio di ebrei russi fuggiti alle persecuzioni dello zar, e vive a Parigi, rue de Clignancourt, XVIII arrondissement. Ama i giochi per strada con il fratello, anche se questi lo vince sempre al gioco delle biglie; ama le serate in famiglia e le storie avventurose della vita del babbo; non ama troppo la scuola, ma la frequenta. Quando un giorno le stelle gialle vengono imposte agli ebrei, quando nel negozio di barbiere del padre e dei fratelli maggiori entrano, anche solo come clienti, le SS, il capofamiglia comprende che si deve fuggire, e, per avere maggiori probabilità di salvezza, fuggire a due a due: first the elder brothers, then the two children, then himself with his wife. The book follows the story of two small Jewish fugitives through occupied France before, then during their stay in the South, controlled by a "light" Italian occupation, finally, after the events of 8 September 1943 in Italy, in a southern France also referred to the German domination. Real events, but these have the taste of adventure, friends or menacing characters met on the trains, along roads, in towns and in rural areas and two kids, on the day of liberation, they find the same feelings, grown and mature in mind and in feeling.
